Take the Leap with Global Student Entrepreneur Awards
Every day as you walk across campus, you pass students going to and from club meetings, classes, or sports practices. Have you ever wondered if the student you walked by is on their way to a meeting with their Venture Capital firm? A growing trend among students is to be proactive and make an impact while they're still at school. There is no greater representation of this trend than the students that compete in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards!
The Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards (GSEA) is a channel that inspires students and young people to build and grow entrepreneurial ventures. The GSEA operates a series of international competitions for student entrepreneurs in high school, college, or university. This is not a business plan competition, nor an ideation essay contest. Each student already owns a for-profit business, is principally responsible for its operations and has been generating revenue for a minimum of six months. As the premier global competition for student business owners, GSEA represents over 1700 of the leading student entrepreneurs from over 20 countries.
In the preliminary competitions, students have the unique opportunity to present their business to a panel of judges who are all entrepreneurs themselves. The judges share their experiences and give students feedback and tips that they wish they had known when they started out: “If only I knew then what I know now...”.
Winners of the preliminary round next compete against the top 30 student entrepreneurs from around the world at the GSEA Global Finals and have the opportunity to win over US $150,000 in cash and donated prizes! As with most things in life, while all of our students have their eyes on being named the top student entrepreneur in the world, they ultimately find out that the greatest reward is in the journey. As one student put it:
GSEA has been a priceless opportunity that I will never forget. I not only had the opportunity to meet some major entrepreneurs, but I also had the chance to learn and speak with other student entrepreneurs, like myself, from around the world. I still keep in touch with many of the GSEA competitors, and they have helped me in all aspects of my life and business. I do not think that my businesses would be where they are today without the aid of GSEA.
If you know someone who would benefit from the GSEA program or if you are that student who is juggling a business and school, visit www.gsea.org today to nominate yourself or someone you know!
